Why Aikido is Different from Other martial Arts

This is a short video clip taken during the week long International Aikido Seminar in the Velebit national park in Croatia in 2017.

In it Doshu Yoshigasaki Sensei explains how Aikido is different from other martial arts and why it is suitable for the modern day.

The video is reproduced with kind permission from Marijan Kudrna Sensei and our friends in Croatia.

In May 1989 Sensei Ken Williams opened our dojo in Alness.
Sensei Williams was at the time Koichi Tohei’s representative in the UK and this video is very rare in that it is one of the only ones to show him teaching.

In November 1990 the Ki No Kenkyukai opened their world Headquarters near Utsonomia, Japan. The occasion coincided with the 20th anniversary of the KNK, the resignation of Koichi Tohei Sensei as Chief Instructor and the appointment of Koretoshi Maruyama Sensei as Chief instructor. A special part of the celebrations was the performance of Noh Plays by firelight.
Koichi Tohei’s retirement speech can be seen towards the end of the video.

We get opportunities to visit the many other clubs in Europe.  This is a short video of the annual Aikido Seminar in the Velebit mountains in Croatia
